Role of Graphene Oxide Aerogel Support on the CuZnO Catalytic Activity: Enhancing Methanol Selectivity in the Hydrogenation Reaction of CO ₂

A novel CuZnO multicomponent catalyst, involving reduced graphene oxide (rGO) as a support, was synthesized to be applied in the catalytic hydrogenation of CO 2 methanol. The CuZnO@rGO composite prepared 3D aerogel by two-step process supercritical for macrostructuration and H treatment reduction. Electron microscopy visualize meso/macroporous morphology formed drying. elemental mapping depicted homogenous distribution nanoparticles deposited on rGO flakes. It demonstrated that methanol production increases comparison unsupported similar nanoparticles. This behavior ascribed different interaction established between Cu 0 ZnO used synthetized or rGO. is shown highly component stimulates O desorption produced during reaction, thus it serves support hindering sintering formation diluted surface alloy Zn into determined NPs, while composite, absence any additional phase, e.g ., ZnO, confirmed. aerogels show excellent MeOH selectivity at high temperature (up 260 ºC) low pressure (10 bar).
